Doug,

Is there a possibility that the Spills code is in good enough

Hi.
Sorry about the delay (etc.). I haven't heard from Tom since the airport...
must be treed by a bear/moose. We shall see next week. On other matters,
I am trying to convince people here that RLL would be very nice for our
multi-paragraph text generation project...currently the world is (proposed)
Systemic Grammars + Hearsay III + KLONE. Representing whatever cross-section/
subset of this in RLL would presumably have the added bonus of yielding self
descriptive powers (with necessary additions to lexicon, etc.). Seems a nice
"tool" for more general usage. Any comments at this totally hand-waving
stage? Don't work too hard...
Steve.

"Wall gremlins"? Even for you, that's obscure. I got a card from Tom yesterday,
totally illigible, possibly unintelligible. I guess he's due back 13-Sept.
As to your task: "This seems like a job for RLL!" (What?, that's been
used before?) Until I get that blankety-blank memo finished, there's some
reading material generated in the Expert System Conference - Phil London, Lee
Erman and/or Bob Balzer could loan you a copy, for what it would be worth.
Do you have a time frame for this project? RLL should reach a releasable
(though stil too-flawed) state be, say, the end of this month. (Of course, if
you believe that, I'll remind you the memo was dated June 1980...)

How are things there, in general?

Whats wrong with obscurity for obscurity's sake? "Wall gremlins" has a nice
ring to it...(i.e., ask my subconscious). I moved from my parents to a house
in Sherman Oaks with Sandy about 3 months ago (don't know if I mentioned
this...) and I'm not sure I gave Tom the address...suppose I should check
my parents mail... Our project is still in the planning state so presumably
no problems unless your schedule slips to 4-6 months. I just have the
problem of convincing people... (also convincing others that it would be
reasonable for a VLSI design system...)

New topic. In general, how can things in LA be? There is something perverse
in the dichotomy between the rat-like aspects of a large city and the benefits
of said rat-warren (cultural, etc.). I'm tired of people running into my car.
Otherwise, things are tolerable. Sandy is working for the LAPD (administrative
aide) while attempting to decide on future edukashen. What fun. Do you ever
see Lou Scheffer at Stanford? (inserted since I saw him on Saturday). Ray
Feeney just bought a house in Pasadena for $340K (definite problems with
being divorced from the real world). Ho hum. Ever get the feeling that
reality is merely something in the way of more useful pursuits?
Steve.
